In today’s contemporary and modern interpretations of living based on the idea of shell and core where the core contains the workings of the building and the rooms at peripheral has views out. In Chinese culture, the concept of residential dwelling is completely opposite where the Siheyuan if predominantly inward looking and the rooms at the peripheral look inwards.

With our dwelling, the question arises about what if we can look out and in as well? A courtyard building that has views to its surroundings. We also expanded this idea to multiple levels creating a vertical Siheyuan. The three storey apartment has openings on the corners, that allows cross ventilation as the overhangs allow shading with pockets of open space all around the tower allows planting creating a dwelling that breaths.
