Last week, QUAD Studio’s Founding Partner, Wai Tang was invited to speak at Archify Instagram Live. The topic was “Can Architecture Be Art?”. Wai shared his thoughts on architecture and the art of design.
Wai believes that design has no boundaries; besides, art and architecture can coexist within the same time in space. Also, he explains how all good design, starts with a good story as he draws your attention to concepts explored by Marshal McLuhan in his book “Medium is the massage”. McLuhan debates whether the message is the message or the medium it is conveyed is the true message? This concept relates to architecture and art more than one may think. During the talk, Wai shared some of his current projects related to Art and Architecture including Mirror Mirror and Chengdu NBD Centre.
Mirror Mirror is an art installation designed by QUAD in collaboration with Keith Lam and Dimension Plus. Starting at Hangzhou at the end of August, it will travel to Beijing, New York and finally Hong Kong in December.
