QUAD studio would like to thank HKDI and Roger Wu for inviting us to show case our Anamorphic Synthesis at Re: Full Gamut Exhibition at Design Spectrum (HKDC). The Exhibition held at HKDC Design and Fashion Base, 270 – 286 Tung Chau Street, Sham Shui Po was a great success attracting thousands of visitors.
Our installation was a result of a collaboration with Atelier Noel Chu and represents a mapping out the design process from the line, to the template, to the material, and finally to the dress. Blurring the lines between fashion and architectural design, the installation consists of a Metaphor, Form, Structure, and Facet. All elements disseminated when viewed in terms of layering and sophistication.
What do visitors expect to see.
As the dress sculpture is inverted, visitors will be able to experience close up the details of the dress composition, but this is not ultimately what the artist want the visitor to experience. Blurring the lines of what is tangible and what is speculative, artist would like you to pursue the art piece by looking into its reflection below. What one will find is the dress as it is, should be represented not in reality, but speculatively within the looking glass.
