City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), a young and vibrant institution committed to driving innovations, has won another prestigious award for its Tunnel of Future Innovations - a project that cultivates a culture of innovation, ignites creativity to transform the future, and fosters collaboration with the local community.

The groundbreaking Tunnel of Innovations has won Silver in the Best Education Award (Interior Design) at the A&D Awards 2025, a highly respected award that recognises and celebrates the most innovative and efficient projects by local and overseas practices.

The reimagined journey of The Tunnel of Future Innovation, designed and built in collaboration with QUAD Studio, features a continuous 50-meter-long LED wall on both sides. It is composed of over 8,500 8K LED modules with 100 million pixels — making it the largest indoor LED wall in Hong Kong to date.

As the primary link between CityUHK’s main campus and the neighbouring Festival Walk shopping mall, the Tunnel of Future Innovations is one of the busiest pedestrian tunnels in Hong Kong. Since its opening in May last year, it has become a new landmark for CityUHK and a new tourist attraction for Hong Kong.

The immersive digital tunnel not only provides a brand-new experience for visitors, students, and staff but also has become a dynamic platform featuring art and innovation and connecting with the community. The tunnel has hosted multi-sensory experiences with academic, cultural and community themes, showcasing student and alumni works.

Established in 2004 by leading Asia-Pacific design magazine PERSPECTIVE, the A&D Awards are among the most authoritative and influential accolades in architecture and interior design. The international judging panel comprises seasoned global design experts who evaluate entries based on a comprehensive range of criteria, including overall performance, creativity, functionality, aesthetics, sustainability and social impact, across various categories, such as architecture, interior design, product design and innovation.
