The Coral Bay
The project is located in the Bao'an district of Shenzhen, which is in the heart of the Guangdong-Hong Kong- Macau Greater Bay Area, an ambitious plan that will transform the area into the world’s largest bay area in terms of GDP by 2030.
We started the project by questioning what is needed for Bao'an, which is already the home of the International Airport and the new world largest Exhibition Centre. We wanted to create a new destination for Shenzhen which has world class cultural and entertainment facilities, together with hotels and retail that would attract visitors from all over the world.
The complex will have multiple attractions such as the Sea Creature Museum, an Indoor Beach, a water theme theatre and other entertainment run by well-known operators. The podium contains a large shopping mall and an open-air retail district. With 5 stars hotels and service apartment on top, which will suit different needs of the visitors and residents.
The design language of the ‘Coral Bay’ was influenced by sea wildlife, the fluid form and smooth lines of the buildings has the resemblance of the form of sea shells and corals. The organic freeform will create a very distinctive frontage along the waterfront.
