Wai Tang is an architect with over 30 years of professional experience, recognized for his innovative approach to future cities and socially responsible design.

Wai previously served as Executive Director at Aedas, where he worked for 13.5 years and from 2011 to 2017 led a talented team of 40 staff, delivering local and international projects of diverse scales.

International Background

Born in Hong Kong in 1970, Wai moved to the UK in 1972. He studied at the Birmingham School of Architecture in 1989 before completing his MA/PG Dip at the University of Westminster in 1993, where he was mentored by David Greene of Archigram. In 1995, he was awarded the RIBA Silver Medal Runner-Up for best national diploma project.

Wai believes the creative world is evolving toward a polymathic model—where design solutions are enriched not by one person doing many things, but by many people focusing collectively on one vision.

Inspirational
In recognition of his contributions, Wai was elected a Fellow Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA) in 2019. In 2026, he was further honoured as a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA), acknowledging his commitment to sustainability, innovation, and high-quality architecture that transforms cities for the better.

Currently, Wai is a member of the Westminster Alumni Advisory Group in Hong Kong, a frequent speaker at RIBA Hong Kong Chapter events, and a Guest Critic at HKU Space, Chu Hai College of Architecture, and the Hong Kong Design Institute. As Founder and Principal of QUAD Studio, he leads a team of talented designers creating cutting-edge architecture across Greater China, the Middle East, and North Africa.
