Quantum Superimposition

 

QUAD studio was commissioned to design and build a temporary exhibition pavilion inside the MINDPARK 2018 for Shenzhen Design Week. The pavilion would be design to showcase the New C Future City in Shenzhen. The space measures 6m(w) x 16m(l) x 4.5m(h) and the pavilion will be showcase with other creative installations in this 3-day event.

Quantum Imposition: In the beginning, we asked a simple question: - What if we created a quantum continuity in space where one can see many facets of C Future City all at once? In other words, a device that can capture many places and viewed simultaneously.

The Experiential Pavilion: What we have is an idea of amalgamating Creativity with Human Behaviour in what is known as experiential design.

The Content: To provide a full-on experience of C Future City, we have to capture and extract many components and arrange them into an ultimate journey of exploration.

The Process: The process begins by dissecting the entire pavilion space into a grid cubes 1.5(w) x 1.5(l) x 1.5(h). C Future City has 3 specific zones; Entertainment Zone, Nature Zone and Culture Zone. We went through a process of pixelating these zones to create experiential pixels. These pixels will showcase a part of these different zones which we then insert into our pavilion space.

The Journey: When all the pixels are in place, we start to carve out the journey from Technology to Nature, to Art. As one moves from one part of the pavilion to another, one experiences a concentration of spaces extracted from C Future City that will engage the five senses to elicit an emotional response.

About MINDPARK

MINDPARK 2018 will be held in Shenzhen from April 20 to 23.
It is curated by TOPYS and C Future City during the Shenzhen Design Week.  12 creative studios/brands and 13 top artists from 8 cities, including Shanghai, Tokyo, London, Paris, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, and Renens will be invited to join this event. The guests will deliver keynote talk and master classes which will attract thousands of entrepreneurs, professionals, workers and creativity enthusiasts from creative industry to attend.

THEME AND FOCUS AREAS


The conference theme of this year is Future City. We will attempt to reflect on the laws and trends from individuals to the environment, growth to consumption and brand to industry together with creative people, designers and managers all over the world through forums and urban practice projects to establish a practical model of the future city and explore the construction insight of both China and the world's future city.
In the process of rapid urbanization in China, more and more challenges and opportunities are at hand. As we discuss the creativity-driven changes in consumption, industrial and cultural upgrade, we should realize that it is never a simple issue that single factor change can lead to a qualitative change in the industry. Each element constituting urban structure: education, consumption, manufacturing, space, culture and policy interact with each other. To understand the law, we attempt to put the best creative thinking in the world into the necessary parts of urban development, observe and obtain the phenomena and opportunities inspired by it: the upgrade of supply and demand, the awakening of cultural awareness, the update of urban form, etc. These changes provide the raw materials and kinetic energy for the construction of the future city, which inevitably contains unlimited business opportunities

The Park is the best place for inspiration. We expect to create a distinctive creative space through diverse interactive experiences, innovative exhibition contents and creative social opportunities to lead the audience out of boring meeting rooms, break the inertia of thinking and inspire creativity. This year, with the theme of "Imagination on the Future," the conference invites domestic and foreign outstanding creators to answer the question of “what is the future” through their creations. They would exhibit from a perspective closer to the real life and reflect on a balanced joint development between culture, science and technology; and activate the imagination about the future through small and effective contents.

MASTERCLASS
